| I was looking at a picture of an Astatic cartride case with the cart still attached and it is so similar to my Glanz cartridge and box that leads me to believe they were produced by the same factory. Anyone have any info on the two carts and whether or not I am way of track. |

| I always thought that Glanz was a German company that stopped producing carts in the 80's. Whoever made them produced an extremely good MC cart. I love it so much but the problem is that there are no interchandeable styli to be had so I don't bother using it. |

That Glanz looks like my Astatic.
I was able to get a replacement stylus for my Astatic from Ed Crockett at
http://www.vintagelectronics.com/
Ask him what he still has available. His prices were reasonable.
Cheers,
Alec

Hi
I still have a Glanz cartridge here. I'll take a pic and upload it to my gallery. As far as I know, they made a range of moving magnet cartridges.

The Glanz GMC - 10EX is a moving coil cartridge. The one I have has only about 20 hours use so far. Once I found that the stylus was not available I put it away and reverted back to the AT-15XE.

I own both an Astatic MF100 and a Glanz G5. They do share the same basic design and match the noted general patent. However, there are notable differences in aspects of design and materials used and they sound miles apart. I'd assume that Mitchi Corp produced according to customer specifications. At present (subject to further listening and experimentation with set-up and system matching), I feel the Glanz is a far superior cartridge.
However, I cannot find any real information about the G5 model. If anyone has experience with or can point me in the right direction I would be very grateful. I have tried to solicit information over on Audiogon but the knowledge around this seems limited. In fact, it would be really great to hear from any former or present owners. |

Hi Blue Angel/bakelite2,
Have either of you used any of the G series? They seem to have better specifications than their MFG brethren. I'm using mine in line with the specifications provided on Ed's excellent cartridge database but would love any first hand experience and recommendations.
I'm certain I can get even more out of it although I am pleased with what I am hearing at present.
Cheers |

I have only limited experience with my Glanz MC cartridge but from what I had heard it is a very good cartridge. Output of 2mV no need for a SUT.
I put it away as I could not find any replacement styli and I would have hated damaging it and not being able to do anything about it.
Very tempted to see what it can do so someday soon I will have another listen |
